Helsingin Sörnäisissä on sota-arkisto, josta pitäisi löytyä tällaisia tietoja. Olen itsekin aikeissa soittaa sinne ja sopia, että milloin voin mennä tutkimaan isoisäni vaiheisiin liittyviä arkistoja.

Hei! Luulen, että netissä ei vielä olisi yksittäisestä henkilöstä tietoja. Mutta kannattaa mennä Sota-arkistoon. Siellä on avuliasta ja asiansa tuntevaa henkilökuntaa. Aluksi varmaan saat kopion sotilaskantakortista, jotta pääseet alkuun. Sen jälkeen alkaakin arkistossa istumisen aika. Onnea ja uutteruutta tutkimustyössäsi.

Hakaristi oli käytössä ilmavoimien koneissa vuosina 1918-1945, myös siis Lapin sodassa. Hakaristiä ei ole von Rosenin suvun vaakunassa (olen itse nähnyt sen), vaan kyseessä on lahjoittajan oma tunnus.

Mutta "Njet Molotoff" laulussa on pieni virhe.
Siellä pitää olla " Ja Molotoffi sanoi että katsos tshjort vozmi"
eikä " Ja Molotoffi sanoi että katsos torppas niin".
"Tshort vozmi" on venäjää "piru vieköön"

Hi!

I'm looking for references covering more detail on the T-34/85 in finnish service, summer of -44.
At the bottom of the page; http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=4035
there is a photo which I'm curious about.
Since there was only a handful of T-34s fighting at this period on the finnish side there got to be some detailed info about them?
What unit might this particular vehicle belong to? ID?

I try to get some Information on the Preussisches Jägerbatailoon 27 which was trained at the Lockstedter Lager in Germany.
My Questions are: Is there some Literatur concerning the matter in englisch, danish or German? I read some books but found no Details.
Who can support me with an Adress of former Veterans community?

Kuvat jossa on tuhottu T-34 on samasta vaunusta eri kuvakulmista vain otettu.
Muuten hyvät sivut sinulla, niin on meilläkin jonkinlaiset! Sivullemme tulee matkaraportti Karjalankannakselta, jossa on sitten nykykuva tuosta T-34:n tuhoutumispaikasta!

Siinäpä tietenkin, että voittaja kirjoittaa historian justiinsa niin
vääräksi ( omille tarkoituksilleen sopivaksi ) kuin vain
katsoo tarpeelliseksi.

Näin on ollut ja on aina olevakin - verratkaapa Irakin operaatiota.

Kokonaisuutena ei välttämättä kannata turhaan tarkkaan erotella talvi- ja jatkosotaa,
vaan niitä pitäisi katsella yhtenä kokonaisuutena, osana maailmanpaloa - ne kuitenkin ovat
osa suurempaa kokonaisuutta, tosin eivät niin merkittäviä koko maailman kannalta, mutta kokonaisuutta
tarkastellessa pitäisi jokaiselle kristtallisoitua kuva siitä, mistä oli kyse.

Eli Neuvostoliiton laajentumispyrkimyksistä, joihin Suomi liittyi eri tavoin eri ajankohtina.

Minä kun tulin sivuille ja katsoin henkilöitä ihmettelin miksi sivuilla ei ole kuvia Aarne Edvard Juutilaisesta. Koska Hänhän oli todella hyvä sotilas.Tietysti minusta tuntuu hölmöltä siksi koskahän on minulle ukin veli.eli isäni setä.Toivoisin että lisäätte sen kuvan jatko sota kuviin.Eihän Marokon kauhu ollut mikään esi kuva vaan alkoholisoitunut mutta ensi sijainen sotilas.*

As the original author seems to keep quiet, I now take the
liberty to translate.
This thread discusses a required correction for the caption of the first
photograph on the equipment of the Winter War.
The caption goes "American 7.62 millimeter Lewis rapid fire rifle from western arm aid for Finland."

The counter-argument states that as opposed to the caption,
the weapon actually is a Dektyarev model 27 automatic rifle,
which was captured as war booty during the first days.

In Finland, it was dubbed "Emma" (a female name equivalent to Emily).
This was because
1. The round shape of the magazine was seen to resemble a "record",
which "played" as the weapon fired
2. At the time Emma was the subject of a popular walz

Mistä johtuu että jatkosodan kohdalla kerrotaan Suomen hyökkänneen, mutta talvisodan kohdalla ei puhuta hyökkääjästä mitään? Talvisodassa Neuvostoliitto hyökkäsi Suomeen, se kannattaisi mainita selvästi. Toisaalta jatkosodan kohdalla ei hyökkääjää kannata mainita, siitä ei kuitenkaan päästä yksimielisyyteen. Kannattaisi vain mainita että Suomi soti Saksan rinnalla. Tavoite oli turva maan itsenäisyys ja saada vanhat alueet takaisin (ei korkojen kera).

Suomen valtionjohdon väite siitä, että Neuvostoliitto aloitti jatkosodan pommittamalla Suomea
on miltei yhtä tökerö tekosyy, kuin Mainilan laukaukset ennen talvisotaa. Kun maassa kerran oli
jo kauan ollut saksalaisia sotilaita, Suomen armeija oli hyökkäysryhmityksessä rajalla ja
saksalaiset painoivat jo täydellä teholla eteläisemmillä rintamilla, olivat Suomen aikomukset
täysin selviä Neuvostoliiton johdolle. Tässä tilanteessa ei ole paljoakaan merkitystä, kumpi itse
asiassa pommitti kumpaa ensin.

Toinen asia on tietenkin se, oliko Suomi pakotettu valitsemaan tämän tien Neuvostoliiton aloittaman
talvisodan ja sen Moskovan rauhan jälkeen harjoittaman painostuksen takia. Vuosikymmeniä vallinneen
"ajopuukäsityksen" mukaanhan Suomi ajautui ilman omaa tahtoaan jatkosotaan ja kun Neuvostoliitto
sitten "taas aloitti Suomen pommittamisen", oli Suomen vaan aloitettava hyökkäyksellinen puolustussota.
Tämä teoria on kuitenkin osoitettu jo moneen otteeseen puutteelliseksi ja nykyinen käsitys onkin, että
Suomella oli monessa asiassa oman politiikkansa ohjat käsissään. Se nyt ainakin on varmaa, etteivät
Neuvostoliiton pommitukset aloittaneet jatkosotaa, sotatoimet kylläkin.

Hello. I am a history student in University of Turku, Finland. I noticed your
inquiry and I found some books, which you might find interesting.

In Winter War there were quite a lot foreign volunteers. Not surprisingly most
of them came from Sweden and they actually got their own front line
responsibility in northern Finland. From US there were at least some hundreds
of volunteers, but I don't know the exact number. Many Finns living in USA came
to Finland to help their native country but most of them came too late to take
part in fighting.

The first of the following books can be quite good source book for you. The
others may also be usefull in your research. Of course, as you can imagine, there
is loads of books concerning Winter War in Finnish language but in English it is
more difficult to find research concerning the topic.
